After upgrading to a vega 56 and getting a 1440 144 monitor I found my 4690 a bit lacking.
I wasn't quite sure if I wanted to stick with an ITX form factor, so the build transformed from maybe being ITX to maybe being mATX to me having a mATX board in an ATX case. Ah well.
I was sure I wanted to transition to Ryzen, though. The important part is that I have a processor with 3 times the core/thread count, and should hold about the same clock speeds as my old 4960, for about the same price as I bought it for a few years ago.
At this time I was also planning on redoing my desk setup, as my previous one had a riser that was cool for a while but eventually just started getting in the way. Replacing that with a mounting solution opened up the desk a lot.
I haven't had time to fiddle around with the RGB a whole lot yet. I may replace the white LED fans with some non-LED ones, and I can't get Aura Sync to recognize the case. The coloring is a little bit of a clown show right now.
E: finally got around to trying to set up the lights, but I've had trouble getting Aura to recognize things plugged into the mobo rgb header. I was planning on getting some Halo fan frames anyway, so I got one just to test to make sure it wasn't the case's connector. I've read the some people have run in to issues with Aura not working properly... After uninstalling and reinstalling several times I just gave up for now. I may get an ATX mobo at some point if there's a good sale, and hopefully that one will be recognized.
