Description

Perfect kaby lake "Mac" mini / hackintosh! Running 10.12.6 beta perfectly -- only things not working: wake from sleep and the two fance usb ports (usb-c/red 3.1). One small patch for audio and nvme, otherwise all native.

Replaced the bt/wifi module that came with the board with an Apple part using the adapter. BT even works in the boot loader! The Apple -> NGFF adapter + the 653-0023 card combo is a tight fit, but it slots in nicely under the noctua (the intel cooler was too bulky).

I ended up scavenging the fractal design case for parts and building my own out of my old mac mini's box :-D. I moved the power/reset switch to the back of the mobo between the display and ethernet ports. Dropped hd led and the extra usb/front audio jacks.

Apple needs to borrow from your designs. Eco friendly too. :)

I've heard a lot of people talk about cases and say, "The case isn't a priority, a good PC is still a good PC even if it's in a shoebox" and I think you took that to the next level! Very cool idea. Did you buy the Mac Mini just for the box? ;)

I've had the mac mini that came out of that box since 2012 (finally! vindication for keeping all those boxes :-D). Since apple decided to stop updating the mac mini, I wasn't going to buy another when my imac's graphics card melted...
