Description

Everything was ordered during sales or amazon pre orders over the course of 4 months. This is my first PC build. Upgrading from a 6 year old Samsung ultra book with i5 Dual core.

I have a new mouse and mouse pad ordered, of course on sale again. Just need to get a decent keyboard and RGB!

Let me know what Bench tests to run on it

Part Reviews

CPU

Ryzen 5 1600 Ordered this back on November 5th from Amazon UK when someone posted it on a PCsalesUK subreddit. Paid £136 for this and guess what, it is showing up as 8 core 16 thread at 3.2Ghz. What a steal!

Motherboard

ASRock AB350M Pro4 Cheap mother board at £72. Paid full price for this as this was the final part and I didnt see any on sale. Has 2x m.2 slots.

Memory

Crucial Ballistix Sport 16gb Single stick of 16gb reduced to £120. RAM price is out of control. Very slow at 2400 but from what I understand is that I can overclock it easily. Actually looks really cool in person compared to the pictures. I thought it would look awful because its red. I have pre-ordered 16gb G Skillz RGB 3200 2x16gb Sticks from Amazon UK for £150, may wait and see if they ever become available and change to faster dual channel.

Storage

SSD Reduced, only reason I bought it.

Video Card

RX570 Pulse ITX Pre-ordered on Amazon UK for £156 at the start of September 2017 and it arrived December 2017! Worth the wait for that price.

Case

Fractal Design Define Mini C Tempered Glass Matx case reduced from around £90 to £56. Bought from Novatech UK. Very cool looking case and really easy & neat to build inside.

Power Supply

EVGA 450W Cables are black.

How did you manage to get an 8 Core R5 1600? Normally they're only 6 Cores, so I'm very curious!

Don’t think he did definitely confused with R7 processors or listed the wrong one on the list

I got very lucky. Definitely R5 1600 is what I paid for. If you google "Ryzen 1600 8 Core" you'll see there are quite a lot of people receiving them. If you look at the cinebench screenshot, it says 1600 8 core.

3dmark is good for benchmarking, and I've used passmark, cinebench and geekbench aswell. Also congrats for getting a r5 that's basically an r7.

Like it even says 8 cores in task manager or cpu z

This is rediculous are your temps high?

Because the ryzen 6 Series the normal and the x are the same chip just binned differently based on what clock they can handle

The same process as the 1700 1700x and 1800x goes through this must just be a big labeling and testing screw up on amd’s part

What's the best method of getting the temperatures when idle and under load?

I would say use open hardware monitor it tells you current temps and the highest that it has reached

How's the cooling with the stock fans for the case and Ryzen 1600? Also, how portable would you say the case is if I needed to move it to another apartment maybe once a week (smooth 10 minute drive?)

many thanks!

I think its fine. I have no overclocked anything. The GPU gets to 72'C sometimes and the processor I don't think even gets over 60'C. I'm not pushing the system playing overwatch locked to 60 FPS.

I tried mining for like a week and that put stress on everything. I opened up the top vent to let more heat out. Again the GPU maybe got to like 78'C but 12 hours later it had cooled down to 75'C. The processor was in the 60's.

Portability I think its fine for that. Just remember one whole side is glass and you need to take care. Its probably slightly bigger than 3 PS4's stacked on each other.

I have the same MoBo and Case. How do you feel about the Sata connectors? I'm not sure if the are a bit "tense" (sorry, English is not my native language) because the angle from the opening to the motherboard.
