Description

Been a long time since I did a build, and I really needed an upgrade, but wanted to have some fun with it.

You may notice that the case, a Corsair 380t is impossible to find anymore, This is still true, but I love this case and so to get one, I had to order mine from China, and the shipping costs were pretty heavy. So add another ~275 to what the build actually cost.

I got the T-force RGB memory, but didn't realize it's not compatible with the Gigabyte RGB fusion, so that was a minor disappointment. Worked after the Bios update... but I got a great deal on all the parts, so overall it worked out well.

I pulled the power supply and 2 SSD's from my previous system, so now I've got this one running Ubuntu, Win 10 and Mac with each on their own SSD, and using the 8TB drive as a shared drive for storage.

May add more lights, new monitors and such later, but I think for now this is suitable for ruling the galaxy.

Now that's the kind of go-getter attitude we like to see in the troops! Promoted to sargent.

Thank you! I do miss that build sometimes. I have a different current PC I haven't gotten around to posting it here yet, its in my saved parts lists as "Prophecy of Sotek". Not sure if you're a fan of Warhammer at all, but I'm planning a total case mod for Warhammer like you did here.

Not really a gamer, my builds are for development. But for me, it's more an appreciation of the art and creativity, and I'd like to see it when you post it!

Thanks! I looked at your build... I almost went with a tie fighter as well, but the star destroyer stood out better :)

Awesome build! Congrats on getting featured! Certainly don't see cases like that all too often. What do you use it for?

  • 1 point

Well, my last case was a full ATX, and having to move it anywhere was a real pain. I don't move it often, but I wanted it to be convenient, and not take up a lot of room. It's also a great modding case, really a shame corsair discontinued it.

Forgot to mention, it's a lot heavier than it looks, so I may start doing reps with it :)

Original, overpowered, portable. Is there anything else to ask for?

"...but I think for now this is suitable for ruling the galaxy." Heck yeah

  • 1 point

More RGB?

I've very satisfied, but I want to update the monitors, keyboard and mouse at some point...

  • 2 points

RGB is overrated, but keeping it in rainbow mode would turn your PC into a moving disco, so looking forward to that :P

  • 3 points

Guess I should have added a sarcasm tag... yeah. I'm not real big into all the flashing and color changing, but it's nice for the holidays, or if I'm hosting a rave in my apartment :P

  • 1 point

Got your sarcasm don't worry ;)

All my RGB stuff is set to a static colour so it matches the colour scheme, the "I can't choose which colour to pick so I have them all at once" mode is too much for me

  • 2 points

Yeah, having 2 of the fans fixed at blue, then a slow fade in RGB of the other lights, gives a nice effect without being distracting.

It only needs some Tie Fighter wings :)

  • 1 point

I actually considered building a table for it to look like a tie fighter, but I wouldn't have room for it anywhere. I still think that would look really cool.

None of the vents lead directly to the core, correct? Wouldn't want any rebel scum getting any ideas.

Awesome compact build +1

I don't really post here much, and I don't really like star wars. But damn that case looks good. Love the way the mesh looks in black+white with the design.

  • 1 point

Thank you, I was really worried about if the mesh would have enough detain in the final product, I was pleasantly surprised!

  • 1 point

I notice you have a few fans in use (looks like 1 in & 1 out + 2x120 for AIO), but the mobo only has 2 I/O for chassis fans + the AIO connector. Do you use more than the 2 chassis fans?

ETA: this is a gorgeous build, well deserving of the feature! Grats!

  • 2 points

The pump has it's own dedicated plug. The radiator fans have an adapter so I only need 1 plug for both, and I've got the front fan in the third one.

The case itself has a fan controller for 3 fans built into it, so I'm using one of those for the rear fan.

Thanks!

  • 1 point

The case has a controller? That's a surprising but convincing argument...

  • 1 point

Yeah, it's the button on the left, 3 speed switch, and there are 3 4-pin plugs for the fans.

Quick question-can this CPU cooler fans be multi color? Or only 1?

  • 1 point

The cooler comes with 2 RGB fans, they can either be both on the same RGB input on your MB or you can put them on separate pins if you want them to be different colors and your MB supports it. Each fan can only be one color at a time.

bit much for the mini build since it's a gift, but that was still a great find and a great job

inspired me to get a case i need for myself to try something like that maybe (i find clear side panels repulsive, but maybe i'll spray it)

I cut out adhesive vinyl and put over the areas to mask, then did spray paint over it. on the front and stormtrooper side, it was easier to spray the whole piece white, then mask it and spray black.
