In our latest video, the staff learn the results from our recent giveaway with Fractal Design, and then build the winning system).

A big thanks goes to Fractal Design for hosting the giveaway and providing the case for this build. Another special thanks goes to EVGA who was able to help us get a hold of the GeForce GTX 1080 8GB Superclocked Gaming ACX 3.0 video card.

After you watch the build, be sure to check out Barry's Completed Build write-up, which includes some benchmarks and extra pictures.

As a special bonus, we've also posted a time lapse video of Barry doing the cable management on the build. Enjoy!

You have good taste in cases. ;)

Wolklung 1 point 11 months ago

Great video. Love you guys. Very nice build too. I'm heading down to the corner shop to get some Doritos.

Gooberdad 7 Builds 1 point 11 months ago

Lol great video. The pc looked great once all together. Nice seeing how the 1080 in the build fit so closely. No wasted space and lots of room for hard drive or sdd expansion.

Berfs1 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

Hai. Give mee some doritos pleeze.

bodywash 1 point 11 months ago

No

Berfs1 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

MarlonMazola 1 point 11 months ago

Yo I have a question, what is that m2 ssd? Is that like a new type of ssd?

jrJon12 1 point 10 months ago

Ya, the m.2 SSD is a more compact and certain versions are faster than the typical 2.5" SSDs. Which would explain how 500g SSDs are $150 now.

migs_xD 3 Builds 1 point 11 months ago

Could you guys imagine if a small piece of those doritos fell into a pci slot or something. haha

MITCHMASH24 1 point 11 months ago

Haha 'Food' : "Doritos flavored Tortilla Chips, Party Size Nacho Cheese Food"

grgmrn 1 point 10 months ago

Pretty nice

MatBinTamim 1 point 10 months ago

Are there any benchmarks of this build? and will it be able to handle Virtual Reality?

BoyScout staff submitter 15 Builds 1 point 10 months ago

The Completed Build write-up has a series of benchmarks you can look at. We haven't actually put the Vive or Rift on it yet, but it should perform very well for VR.

TheRandomSpectator 1 point 10 months ago

PLEASE start selling PCPP merch! I would totally buy that (when I have money...)!

krilin31 1 point 10 months ago

ive had pretty much this same build saved for months trying to justify spending the money except i dropped the ram to 16 gigs, didn't include a led setup and used the extra money for a 3 tb media storage drive.

franferri 1 point 10 months ago

I'm interested to know the screwdriver, this one has adjustable resistance. May you point it on amazon?

BoyScout staff submitter 15 Builds 1 point 10 months ago

The one in this video is a Snap-On model Philip has had for years.. I'm not sure if it's still available anywhere, but here is an equivalent one you can get today made by Williams (a Snap-On company). You'll find that one used in many of our videos as well.

franferri 1 point 10 months ago

Wow! I really appreciate your feedback. I just bought in Ireland all the setup $1750 Fractal Design Node 804 Build because of your site, but from Amazon was 3 times more expensive.

BoyScout staff submitter 15 Builds 1 point 10 months ago

Awesome -- congrats on your new build!

Dummy 1 point 10 months ago

Hello,

I'm a dummy.

My question is, if I wanted to mimic this build 99% (Cool Ranch Doritios are better) would I run into any compatibility issues or is it safe to assume that everything, minus the flavor of Doritios, is completely good to go? This will be my first build mind you...so any information anyone can provide to help avoid potential speed bumps would be GREATLY appreciated..

Thank You

-A Dummy

I am thinking of only going with 16gb of memory. Mushkin Blackline 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory I do not see this on Gigabyte QVL will it work?

Pcdestroysconsole 1 point 10 months ago

Ohhhhhh this nice me want! ( Looked at my bank account, oh sh!t I can only afford the case XDDDDDDDDD)

Omnislash89 5 Builds 1 point 10 months ago

That was superior in production quality...very satisfying to watch, even though I'm more of a Sunchips kind of builder ;)

arcgore 1 point 9 months ago

Hi I have a quick question? How would this system hold up to streaming and things like video encoding. I am starting to do streaming and some graphic design. Would this system hold up well with the addition of an extra hard drive or two? I would think so but wanted to ask a few people more knowledgable then me. Been looking for a smaller form factor system for my home office.

maclamby staff 7 Builds 1 point 9 months ago

It can handle video editing very well. We actually used it for this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SnkW0hQNlj8

This is also plenty of room for additional hard drives using the cages in the PSU chamber.

tcw015 1 point 9 months ago

Do you think the ASUS ROG MAXIMUS VIII GENE would have been a better choice with the Intel® Ethernet (I219-V)? It seems like i'm always reading about people having trouble with the killer chip. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Cvj 1 point 9 months ago

Looks like the GPU is getting pretty hot under load. Would there be room in the case for the EVGA HYBRID 1080 GPU and cooler?

DouBLEPC 1 point 9 months ago

If I don't buy the Doritos, will the build still work?

Zeroizev2 1 Build 0 points 11 months ago

hey thanks for sharing this build. i like the Fractal 804 and would like to do a build using one.

http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Zeroizev2/saved/rXfrHx

could you check my part list above and let me know if you think there would be any clearance issues with the CPU cooler and/or the GPU?

Pacemaker13 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

You need a Z170 board to overclock your 6700k, if you're not interested in overclocking, take the 6700 (without "K") and go with a h170 board. This will be a good pair ;)

And yes Philip, Doritos are a gimmick, but a very tasty gimmick!

Mmm. I like their Nacho Cheese and Cool Ranch. And it goes great while building a computer. * wink-wink *
