help desiding on resistors for led case mod

hey guys,

i know ths is a pc site but im making a case mod for a friends xbox 360 fat(elite jasper) and it'l have a window and/or leds in the ''case '' dvd drive'' ''hdd ''and in the "controler''.

now i will have diffrent sized and kinds of leds in each part of the console Heres a list of what leds go where The Case: red led strip lights ran from a back fed usb cable or from the dvd drive power cable "already bought the leds" (im pretty sure the strip lghts wont need resistors)

The DvD Drive: X6 red 5 mm leds . powered by the dvd power cable

Hdd: X 2(maybe 4 i havnt decided yet) red 3 mm leds powed by the hdd power(5V i think but i realy dont know ) cable as shown in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jA126yCEPxc&t=408s

The Controller: X2 3mm red leds ran straight off the X2 AA batterys(3v)

Now i know that all the 5 and 3 mm leds will needs some kinda resistors. But i cant find out howto figure which kinda. However i have some 100 ohm 1/4 watt 5% resistors on hand as well as some 56 watt and 46 watt of the same. will these work?

As for parallel or serial, idk realy u guys can desisd which way u think is best. im open for options i have purchest all th eparts needed for this build (even the listed resistors ) and wud love some help here guys thnx:D

as to the leds and video tutorials im using heres all the links:D

method for strip lights(only i might be running them from a back fed usb cable)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MJuEa6yjCgw&t=183s

method for controller

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=clDQhVpPjok&t=1s

method for the dvd drive(instead of strip lights i will use X6 5mm leds)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wU0II3d4aWk&t=3s

ps. i know that this is a pc site so i hope this will be acceptable seeing gaming consoles r just mini non upgrade-able pc's with a special os. plz respond guys i posted on toms hardwear but no one ther was helpfull in in full yet so i figured id try u guys:D thnx for any sugestions.

Here are a couple of calculators that may help you with what you are needing.

http://www.ohmslawcalculator.com/led-resistor-calculator

And this one is absolutely great for designing wiring diagrams. It will tell you how many and what kind of resistors to use, as-well as automatically give you all possible options of parallel, series, or both used together.

update>! i only need resistors for the controler now:D (using X2 red 3mm leds . powered by X2 AA batterys :) and thnx for the calculator :) il try it to figure it out in a sec:D

ok man thnx a lot:D i think got it:D (but just to be safe can u plz confirm this??) im using 2X AA batterys(3V) and X2 3 mm red leds (2.2VDC forward drop)(Max current: 20mA) so need 2X 46 ohms 1/4 watt 5% resistor.. right? or no is it wrong?

From what I am seeing in the calculator you will need (1x) 82 ohms 1/4W resistor.

Voltage Source (VS) 3 Volts (V) Voltage drop from LED (VLED) 2.2 Volts (V) Current through the LED (ILED) 20

Resistance (R) 40 this is what the calculator looks like when i enter the specs . it says 40 ohms resistor

cud i be entering in the specs wrong? in the "Current though the LEDS" space . i put the (max current:20mA) specs from the led in that slot is this right?

No, I was taking entering 6v on accident. You will have to wire them in parallel and get 2 40 ohm resistors, one after each LED.
