Lack of supply from shipping difficulties out of China.

AMD prioritizing EPYC over consumer products.

Increased demand with everyone home from work/working from home.

AMD cutting into 2600 production to make 1600 "AF" which sells for less but saves game passes for higher end models.

AMD drawing down stock before launching 4000 series APU.

AMD/Retailers need more money with everyone working from home or being out of work.

Greed.

Pick and choose what reasons you want there are a ton these days.

Not to mention if you are looking at prices on PCPartPicker there are some key retailers that the prices are not showing for due to a decision from the staff of this site. That was done because they wanted to reduce load from those sites to allow them to better handle shipments of necessities. For example Amazon was removed because they also ship medical supplies and other important stuff. Another reason for a site to be removed is because they had to shut down shipments due to quaranteens and such.

When you cut out key retailers the leftovers often have higher prices so that could be another cause for the higher prices you see. Though you could argue that some PC hardware is essential as making the change to work from home may mean you need a system like a desktop. monitors, peripherals, laptop, etc.
