Cutting it Close

I'm about to upgrade my computer from the Phenom II X4 820's integrated HD 4200 GPU (horrible, I know >.<) to a HD 7770. Currently my computer has a 250 watt PSU. PCPartPicker is telling me I'll need 240 watts to run, but that seems too close. PSU's aren't my area of expertise so I'm wondering if my PSU will die and if so what's a cheap, reliable PSU to upgrade to?

Computer components can be unpredictable sometimes under stress and might max out that PSU you got there. So I'd recommend getting a higher wattage one.

Pcpartpicker's calculator is always low. I'd recommended stepping up your PSU to a 400w+

Alright, thanks. I think I'll with this one http://pcpartpicker.com/part/thermaltake-power-supply-tr500 because I'd like to keep it under $30.

I'd highly advise against getting a cheap power supply. get one that's 80+ Rated at a minimum

:/ Too bad. I guess I'll have to go with that one. Can having a low watt PSU damage the MOBO, CPU, or GPU?

Yes, but so can having a poor quality PSU. Low quality ones like that Thermaltake one can go out and bring your entire system with it. The 430w Corsair is more than enough power and is highly reliable.
