Description

This was my first build. It went smoother than I expected. I do wish I went with a different mobo though. The one I have works fine, but lacks some aesthetics. The GPU is probably overkill but I get good FPS in MW2.

Part Reviews

CPU

This has been a champ. I was debating on a 12700 at the time and am glad I bought this. Haven’t experienced any issues yet. The performance is good. It usually runs around 4.6ghz.

CPU Cooler

It cools well. I haven’t noticed any difference in front mount or top mounting of the rad. Both ways seem to cool the same.

I was worried that my peripherals would be warmer with the rad being mounted up front. I have not seen any temperature differences in that either. I have my lower front fan blasting and it is quiet and draws cool air into the lower case very well.

Motherboard

A basic mobo. It was available when I started to build my computer. After a few months, I started to wish I bought a strix or tuf gaming mobo. The performance of the B660-plus D4 is great for what it is. I haven’t experienced any issues. It does lack in aesthetics, but the price makes up for it.

Memory

Hey they look and perform nice. I am planning on adding two more sticks in the future.

Storage

Boot drive. Zero issues with performance.

Storage

Very fast for my needs. Stores my games and files. It is quickly filling up. Time for another one.

Video Card

4 stars because I paid msrp well after release. With that being said, it deserves 5 stars because this thing is a beast.

I have noticed after driver updates from nvidia, it runs a bit warmer and the fans are always on.

One thing to note... The factory thermal paste was crumply. I was experiencing some temperature spikes and looked to see how the paste job was. I'm glad I checked. I replaced the paste with MX-6.

Case

I love this case. Plenty of air flow and looks good.

Cable management with corsairs icue system is kind of a pain.

Did you need to connect the AIO to the motherboard for Rgb?

Yes. Fan header. NOT the pump header. My motherboard would not recognize the AIO and warned that I wasn’t cooling my cpu if I used the pump header.

After thinking about your question a little more, I realized that if you use Corsair fans they come with a command node to control your rgb. I don’t have any of my fans plugged into my mobo. The only thing plugged into my mobo is the pump. All fans go to the node. I hope this helps.

i would put the radiator on the top of the case so it blows out the hot air from the cpu.

I went back to that method and oddly some temps seem to have dropped 2-3c when gaming. I say oddly because before, I did not see any difference in temps. Weird eh?
